Improving The Home Improvement Value In Your Home

People used to purchase a home so that they could have a solid place to raise a family instead of the ups and downs of renting. Todays homebuyer buys a home today for a place to raise their family and to increase the value and make some money.

Home improvement value means that when you make an improvement or a repair you raise the value of your home. You can expect to get a return of 60 to 80% from most home improvements. Remodeling the bathroom or kitchen will get you the best return on your investment and it will help to sell the home when you are ready to sell. People love to have beautiful kitchens but they need to be practical so that they can enjoy their family and friends while they are preparing meals.

You can improve the value of your home by repainting, fixing the bathroom and kitchen fixtures, upgrading the lighting replacing or restretching the carpet and by upgrading linoleum to tile. All of these improvements and repairs will help with the home improvement value of your home and most of them can be done by you the home owner if you take your time and do some research on the Internet or go to your local home improvement store and participate in one of their clinics.

Remodeling a kitchen, bathroom or adding a room maybe more than you want to tackle on your own. Hiring a contractor does not have to be the daunting task that you may have heard of. Be sure to ask your family and friends to see if they can recommend a contractor that they have used in the past. This is usually one of the safest ways to get a contractor with out the worry. Once you get a contractor be sure to check his license and insurance. One way to save on the cost of using a contractor and still get the home improvement value is to ask him if you can do the parts of the project that you feel comfortable doing like painting hanging the light fixtures or installing the faucets.

Always remember that keeping your home and its surroundings in good repair is the easiest and best way to increase the home improvement value. If you let water drip under the sink it will not only cost you money from the extra water but it will eventually rot the wood under the sink and may even cause you to have to remove and replace the cabinets.

Liquid Calcium Magnesium citrate

Recent research shows that the diets of most women including teenage girls and menopausal women lead to a serious lack of calcium and magnesium that weakens their bone structure. Lack of exercise and smoking also contributes to the rate of bone loss.

Postmenopausal women whose diets were supplemented with calcium citrate lost less bone than women who took calcium carbonate or no calcium, and in women who were seven or more years past menopause, bone mineral density actually increased in the important weight bearing leg and thigh bones. Magnesium is also deficient in the diets of 67% to 85% of women. Postmenopausal women need magnesium supplementation since they do not absorb magnesium efficiently. LifeTime Liquid Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D is an excellent mineral formula that is highly absorbable, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

These two important minerals are often combined into one convenient product. Such combinations are a practical way to prevent or treat myriad ailments, from back pain and perimenopause to PMS and endometriosis. While there is little to distinguish one calcium/magnesium product from another, it’s smart to take a combination that includes different forms of the key minerals (such as calcium citrate, carbonate, and malate; and magnesium citrate, aspartate, and glycinate) as insurance that at least one will get absorbed into your system and do its work.

College Football Week 14: A Doormat Grows Up

The 2006 San Jose State Spartans have been to the mountaintop. Projected by the WAC media poll to finish dead last in the conference, the Spartans have followed former University of Arizona head man Dick Tomey to their best record since 2000. (Since 1992, the program’s won-loss record is 45-102, a robust 31% winning clip.) San Jose St. is 7-4 overall, 4-3 in the very competitive WAC, beat Stanford, lost by six to Washington and lost by three to BCS-bound Boise St. Because they were able to win their seventh game last week against Idaho, this December, the Spartans will be invited to a bowl game for the first time in 16 years: the New Mexico Bowl, where they’ll play, er, New Mexico.

Perfect scenario for a letdown, right? Watch highlights of your bowl-clinching victory on the plane ride home from Moscow (the Idaho kind, not the Russian), dream of all the free stuff you’ll get down in Albuquerque a couple days before Christmas, get fat and happy and ignore the season finale.

Fat chance. San Jose St. hosts Fresno St. in their last regular-season game of 2006, and they’ve got revenge on their minds. These teams have played every year since 1996, and the Bulldogs have won every single meeting. Ouch. And that includes some massive beat-downs: last year, Fresno St. won 45-7; in ‘04 it was 62-28; in ‘03 it was 41-7, and on and on. The Spartans haven’t won against the Bulldogs since 1990.

This year the Bulldogs are one season removed from a great campaign, in which they nearly beat USC and did beat Boise St., and were projected to contend for the league crown once again in ‘06. That hasn’t happened; the Bulldogs are 4-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference. They lost inexplicable games to Utah St. and Colorado St., and have been consistently overrated by bettors all year: they’re 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games (dating back to a four-game losing streak that ended ‘05), 1-8 ATS in their last nine conference games, 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games on grass, 0-8 ATS against teams with winning records, and 0-6 ATS on the road. Coach Pat Hill has gone back and forth with his quarterback, starting with Tom Brandstater, benching him and going with Sean Norton, and then coming back to Brandstater. Running back Dwayne Wright has been very good, averaging 123 yards a game (including the 295 he just racked up last week against Louisiana Tech), and the Bulldogs have won three in a row outright (though they covered in only one of those games). But their seven-game losing streak earlier in the season was their worst skein in 77 years.

The Spartans, by contrast, have been very good in all games except against the dominant offense of Hawaii (they allowed 54 points to the Rainbows on the road; then against, the Bulldogs gave up 68 to Hawaii at home) and the rugged defense of Nevada. SJSU junior corner Dwight Lowery is a first-team All-American, and will be the best player on the field Saturday afternoon (it’s the first time in 35 years San Jose St. has had an All-American football player). On offense, the Spartans boast a rushing attack that’s just about the equal of Fresno St.’s, behind RBs Yonus Davis and Patrick Perry, and quarterback Adam Tafralis is just good enough to take advantage of the Bulldogs’ pass defense, which is 89th-best in the nation in terms of passing yards allowed per game, and has allowed 23 touchdowns to just four interceptions. And while both of these defenses can be had via the ground, and while SJSU’s per-game yards rushing allowed average is worse (150 to 137), these teams are matched in yards-per-carry-allowed, at 4.1 ypc allowed.

Having caught the gambling public by surprise this year with a successful year well in advance of expectations, SJSU is also quite good against the number. They’re 7-3 against the spread this year, and on a 4-1 ATS streak; they’re 12-2 ATS in their last 14 as a favorite; they’re 4-1 ATS against conference teams; and they’re 4-1 ATS in home games. Tomey was part of the University of Texas’s Rose-bowl-winning staff in 2004, and was renowned for his Desert Swarm defenses at Arizona in the 1990s. His personnel at SJSU certainly isn’t anywhere near that quality yet, but the team is motivated, isn’t looking past Fresno St. to the excitement of a bowl game, and has kept the memory of recent detonations at the hands of the Bulldogs fresh. I’m taking San Jose St. at home over Fresno St. (-4) in a revenge game of the highest order.

Last Week: Ohio University did us right the second time around, as a three-point favorite against their archrivals, Miami of Ohio. The game was a whole of nail-biting when Miami tied the score, 24-24, early in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats responded with a five-play, 73-yard drive, and salted away the deal with a field goal just four minutes later, for a 34-24 win. No sweat. (Sure.) That squares Ohio with us, since we lost a one-point heartbreaker with them earlier this year. For the season, our record stands at 8-5 against the number.

Traveling with Diabetes

When it comes to traveling with diabetes, there are several things you should
keep in mind to ensure your trip is memorable. Of course, you want it to be
memorable because of all of the fun you had and the memories you created –
not because you were sick the entire time due to insulin problems or because
you were held up at the airport because you improperly packed your medical supplies.
Therefore, there are a few things you should do and you should be aware of before
you embark on your next great journey.

Know Your Rights

The first thing you need to do before traveling by plane is to know your rights
and to know the law as it applies to individuals with diabetes.
Ever since the major events that took place on September 11th, the Department
of Homeland Security has clamped down even harder on what can and cannot be
brought on an airplane. As a result of the regulations that are in place, items
such as shampoo, toothpaste, suntan lotion, hair gel, creams, and even beverages
need to be packed in your non-carry on baggage. Therefore, you will need to
change you contingency plan if you normally use juice boxes or other beverages
to raise your blood sugar levels. This means you might need to pack
solid foods, such as granola bars and crackers,
instead.

When it comes to your medicine, you have the right to carry that onboard with
you. Before bringing it on board, however, you will have to allow it
to be inspected
. Be sure the medicine is clearly labeled with your
name on it. In addition, you will need to bring a letter from the doctor stating
your need for the medication. If you are traveling internationally, it is helpful
to have it translated in the language or languages of the country you will be
traveling to. All of your medical supplies must then be packed inside a clear
plastic bag and this bag should be kept separate from your carry on bag.

You might want to consider notifying the airline about your medical
condition
prior to arriving for your flight. Also, it is a good idea
to double-check on what supplies are allowable. According to the Department
of Homeland Security, the following products are permissible:

Insulin
Unused syringes, as long as you also have injectable medication
Used syringes, as long as they are being transported in a Sharps disposable
container
Loaded insulin dispensing products, such as jet injectors, pens, preloaded
syringes, and infusers
Blood glucose meters, test strips, lancets, meter-testing solutions, alcohol
swabs
Insulin pump and supplies, including batteries, cleaning agents, plastic
tubing, catheter, infusion kit, and needle
Urine ketone testing strips
Glucagons emergency kit

If you are wearing an insulin pump and are uncomfortable with walking through
the metal detector at the airport, you have the right to request a visual
inspection and a full-body pat down
instead. Inform the inspector that
the pump cannot be removed because it is inserted beneath your skin and be sure
to let the inspector know if you are experiencing low blood sugar.

Check Your Blood Sugar Levels Frequently

Most people with diabetes check their blood sugar levels 2 to 4 times a day.
When you are traveling, however, you should check your blood sugar levels
more frequently.
Don’t allow the excitement of your day to allow
you to forget about this important precaution. In fact, the excitement can actually
cause your blood sugar levels to rise, as can the heat that is often associated
with travel. So, checking your blood sugar on a regular basis becomes even more
important.

To further assist with overcoming the heat, be sure to keep yourself hydrated.
Carry water with you wherever you go and sip it often. Your goal should
be to drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water every day.
Of course,
drinking more water is even better. You should also be careful to keep your
test strips, insulin, and meters out of direct sunlight. It is best to store
them in insulated containers or to use ice packs when storing them, but be careful
to avoid freezing them.

Have a Team in Place

Before heading out on vacation or business travel, be sure to consult with
your doctor and anyone else involved with your diabetes care program, such as
a nutritionist. Your doctor may suggest increasing your insulin dosages
while you are away and your nutritionist can provide you with suggestions for
foods you can keep on hand while on the plane and visiting sites. It is also
a good idea to get a prescription from your doctor in case of an emergency or
in case you accidentally lose your medical supplies.

By taking these few precautionary measures, you will be sure to have a fun,
and safe, travel experience.

Free Live Football and Soccer – Even At 3PM on a Saturday Happy Days

I am a football/soccer fan, always have been always will be. I love my football/soccer and I know there are thousands and thousands of people out there just like me.

Two weeks ago I received an e-mail from a friend of mine. He text me and said, you have got to log into your e-mail now and check out what I have sent you. I did as I was told and about 3 minutes later, I was the happiest football fan on the planet, at the point in time. I had discovered live football/soccer on the net for absolutely NO COST what so ever.

Now, we all know that live football/soccer on the box has been the cause of many, many family arguments. It clashes with Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emerdale, you know what I mean. Well, now there was a way to end those rows. Football/Soccer on the PC/ Laptop and the soaps on the box. Happy Days !!

I was so excited about this. I had to share it with my Dad. The only problem with this, was that my Dad is very new to computers and the internet. He has been on-line for about a year now and only recently upgraded to Broadband. I couldn’t visit it him, because of other commitments, but I wanted to get him up and running with my new discovery, for two reasons.

1. My mum could watch her soaps and give her control of the remote. That maybe a step to far though !

2. My Dad could cut costs without missing his Live football. Yes I got the football/soccer bug from my Dad, bless him. He is a pensioner now, so every saved penny is a bonus.

The only way I would be able to give him access, to this great online offer, would be to write an installation, easy to follow ?idiot guide,? with screenshots taking him through every step and every click. It took me longer than I thought, but the end justified the means.

I was so excited. I had to get a second opinion before I e-mailed it off to my Dad. So, I popped next door with a printed copy of my lovely, colourful guide. I sat in the kitchen with my neighbour’s wife having a cup of tea, while her hubby logged on to his PC and followed my instructions. It took him about 5 minutes, but ’sUCCESS? was achieved and he was as happy as I was.

I wasted no time in patting myself on the back, but the big test was still to come. I e-mailed a copy off to my Dad. I called him and explained, what I had just sent him. He printed of his copy. I sat on the other end of the phone, with a copy of the guide on the screen in front of me.

I was really pleased. In about 15 minutes he was done. The date was Feb 17th and we were both now watching Chelsea v Norwich FA cup 5th round match, Live on our PC’s, FOR FREE and even better than that; It was 3:20 PM on a Saturday. Sorry, but to coin a phrase, he was ?over the moon?. I was a very, happy chappy too !!

To make this work you need the following, but there is no EXTRA cost involved.

1. Broadband Connection (You are already paying for this)

2. Windows Media Player at least version 9(free download link is given for version 11) or real player

3. 10 minutes of your time and then you will be up and running

4. A Good Supply of ?cold ones.? Okay, you will have to pay for these

The choice is yours. Premier League, Coca Cola Championship & League. The FA Cup, Carling Cup, Champions League & UEFA Cup. The Italian Seria A, The Spanish La Liga, The French Le Championship, The German Bundesliga and much more.

You can even watch from a selection of movies. In February I watched the latest James Bond Movie ?Casino Royale?.

Get your Free Installation guide By Clicking on the following link. You know it makes sense:
Free Live Football/Soccer. Even At 3PM on a Saturday. Happy Days Open it, download it and feel free to share it, with whoever you want. Enjoy and Have fun!

The Importance Of Vitamins And Potassium In The Human Body

Have you ever wondered why the word ‘essential’ usually precedes the term, ‘vitamins’? The reason is simple. Vitamins as well as minerals ensure that our bodies function as they were designed. Interestingly, as important as vitamins are, the body lacks the ability to manufacture most on its own. Instead, it must rely on outside sources to meet its nutritional needs.PotassiumPotassium is one of the body’s major minerals. It is an electrolyte like sodium or chloride but unlike those two, 95% of it is found inside the cells fluids. One of potassium’s functions is to control the muscles and the nerves. The balance of electrolytes changes as they pass in and out of the cells. This causes an electrical charge and that is how the cells communicate with each other. These charges are how muscles contract. The heart which is one of the body’s largest muscles relies on potassium to keep it beating. Potassium not only stores the main source of fuel, glycogen, but it also helps to convert blood sugar (glucose) into glycogen.Without potassium the lungs and the kidneys wouldn’t function properly. It controls the water level. In fact, one of the symptoms of potassium deficiency is extreme thirst or water retention.Potassium has been known to lower blood pressure in people affected by high blood pressure. It is beneficial to arthritis suffers because it removes the acids around the joints that cause pain. The way potassium reduces the acid level in the body not only helps with arthritis, but with headaches and migraines too. Potassium prevents the loss of bone mass which is a cause of osteoporosis.Sources of potassiumThere isn’t a daily recommended amount of potassium, but people are able to get enough eating fruits and vegetables such as dates, bananas, apricots, kiwis, oranges, tomatoes and potatoes. It is also available in foods such as legumes, meat, fish, whole grains and dairy products.Potassium is water soluble. The excess is normally flushed out in the urine. However, people with malfunctioning kidneys are prone to heart problems.Potassium deficienciesPotassium deficiencies are due to excess vomiting, the misuse of laxatives or diuretics, and diarrhea. Aside from water retention and thirst, symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, poor circulation, insomnia, fatigue, hypertension, earaches or headaches, abdominal pain, general fatigue and malfunctioning nerves and muscles.

Are You Looking for a Home Improvement Loan?

Most homeowners at some point borrow money to upgrade their houses. They usually do it by refinancing their current mortgage. We’ll help you get the right loan for your needs, but we also want to help you make sure you aren’t wasting your efforts and your money. Although improvements are wonderful for the current owners, they usually are also looking toward future resale value. That means you don’t want to make decorative or practicality mistakes, or you might as well just burn your hard-earned cash.

Many of us are artistic and want to make a strong statement in each room. That’s fine when we plan to stay in the house, but when you’re planning on selling, you need to play it a bit more conservative. As much as you love them, avoid bold colors in designs in places that aren’t easy to change. In other words, it’s okay to paint because walls and doors can be painted over fairly easily. If you put in fancy floor tiles and countertops, you may just lose a potential sale down the road. These areas are more expensive to redo and buyers will have subtler homes to choose from. You can have beautiful amenities, just keep them in more neutral tones.

Another thing to do when you refinance for home improvements is to take the style of your house into consideration. If you have a large spacious home, trying to make it look like a cottage will just come off as silly. Frilly window treatments and folksy wall-paper probably won’t appeal to someone looking at your house. Most large homes are airy and sophisticated. Cottage d?cor looks much better in a smaller cottage-like home. In other words, keep the upgrades consistent with the basic style or they may turn into downgrades.

Bathrooms are another area where the right remodel will pay off for you. It’s all about spas these days, so if you can, make at least the master bath large with a soaking or whirlpool tub, double sinks, and a walk-in shower, and a closed toilet area. You don’t have to borrow a fortune to make these changes. Statistics show that spending about $10,000 is more profitable than going above that. Shop your favorite home stores carefully and you’ll hit the right balance.

Another tip regarding a home-improvement loan is to tour some really upscale houses. Take advantage of home shows and open houses. This doesn’t mean that you have to borrow a fortune, but you’ll get a good look at future trends. Upscale homes tend to have more futuristic themes.

We’ll give you the advantage of our expertise and experience when you discuss borrowing for upgrades with us. We don’t want to see you waste money on frivolity when it isn’t necessary. We do want you to use your loan in ways that will ultimately prove profitable for you.

Want a Good Money Management Strategy? Buy a Used Car

My father is a fairly well-to-do businessman. As a kid growing up, I never understood why Dad never bought a new car. He always came home with a used car and I thought it was because we were poor. As an adult, I now understand that buying a used car was part of Dad’s overall wealth planning strategy. Did it work? Well, he’s retired comfortably, wealthy, and still driving used cars.

Now, as a kid, I had no idea what depreciation meant. Now that I?m older and wiser I realize that once you drive your new car off the lot, the value drops dramatically. Generally speaking, a new car can lose 30% of its value in the first two years of ownership. To my Dad, this was clearly a waste of money. So, why not buy gently used, and let someone else swallow the 30% loss?

Dad had a theory about good money making habits; pay cash for things that depreciate and use credit for things that appreciate. A car depreciates so if you can, pay cash. Things like real estate, antiquities, art and investments appreciate so, for these things it’s OK to borrow money.

I have yet to own a new car. I?d like to someday but invariably, I inherited my Dad’s logic on money management. So recently I paid cash for my gently used Cadillac. It may not have had that new car smell but, it felt new, it had low mileage, a great history, and I fell in love with the experience of driving a Cadillac. And, because I?m self-employed, the car and all the expenses are a tax write off. Should I ever get land on hard times, I don’t have to worry about the vehicle as a burden. It’s an asset that I can sell at any time.

Before you buy new or used, have a look at the financing options available to you and decide which option makes more money making sense to your current situation. Whether you are paying cash, leasing or financing, you really need to research how a new or used purchase helps your overall money management strategy.

For example; for people with a poor credit history due to divorce, bankruptcy, a business failure etc, a car loan may actually help you repair your damaged credit. I makes both short term and long term sense to work with a reputable used car dealership that can help you achieve your credit repair goals. A good cash down payment will help keep those monthly payments lower, and a small manageable monthly payment plan will go a long way to helping rebuild your credit.

So, if you are buying a used car, here my ten top tips to consider before you go shopping:

1. Have clarity on what you can afford. Know your budget!

2. Should you need financing, make certain you know what you are cleared for before you go shopping!

3. Save up your money for the deposit and have the deposit ready in case you find what you are looking for!

4. If you know the make and model you want, call your insurance company ahead of time to get a quote to make certain this is in line with your monthly budget. For example: 2 door cars are often considered sports cars by insurance companies, and may be much more expensive to insure over a 4 door family vehicle.

5. Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer

6. As a rule of thumb, look for cars with low mileage. I recommend under 60 thousand km.

7. Test Drive your car to make certain you love it! Check everything: body condition (check for rust), high speeds, low speeds, wiper, radio, air conditioner, heater, reverse, engine, sunroof etc. Make certain it has all the likings you want!

8. Once you found the car you love, get the vehicle checked out by a reputable mechanic. Make certain they check for rust, evidence of accidents, or any major parts that could result in being a potentially expensive problem such as engine, suspension, steering, brakes, tires, etc. Ask about the vehicle history and warranties.

9. Be knowledgeable about the price. Research the price on the web or via other dealers to make certain you are getting a fair price.

10. Finally, make sure you negotiate. It never hurts to try and negotiate even if you’re not any good at it. Chances are you’ll get a deal just for asking.

How To Discover That Million Dollar Idea Inside Your Brain?

Niche research and brainstorming are the two top skills every Internet infopreneur needs. And it is surprising how often you often ignore your own knowledge and expertise – or are completely unaware of it!

In every niche market brainstorming session, I ask a group of clients, friends, or subscribers to take out a sheet of paper and make a list of valuable things they know… things that others will pay them to learn.

9 times out of ten, the answer is almost instant.

“But I Don’t Know Anything That Valuable!”

Then, for the next few minutes I explain what we’re about to discuss in this section. After a while, their mindset changes and the ideas start flowing.

But don’t take my word for it. Try this experiment. Go to someone you know – a friend, spouse, family member, colleague at work, anyone. Ask them the same question – what do they know that’s worth cash.

You’ll be surprised to hear the same answer coming out of everyone’s mouth. And that includes folks whom you admire and respect, wish you could learn to follow, and would gladly pay to learn what they know!

So before going ahead, I want you to repeat this sentence out loud – 3 times. “Everything that happened in my life is worth money.”

Now, say it out loud. Three times. Done? Do you believe it? Well, you soon will.

The 20 Minute Exercise

Now, I want you to take a short time-out for 20 minutes and carry out this simple exercise. Get out a paper and pen or pencil. Jot down on it a list of the things you have learned in your life.

You could go about making this list 2 ways.

The first way is to begin from early childhood and follow the course of your life sequentially. The other is to recall the most remarkable events in your life, both good and bad, pleasant and unhappy.

Look at the things you’ve done, the successes and failures, the ups and downs. Think about how they have impacted the way you are today, and the lessons each has taught you.

Don’t worry about how trivial it appears – if it taught you a lesson, one that you benefit from today, make a note of it.

Remember, this may not be easy work. But it will become the cornerstone of your entire infopreneurship career, so don’t skimp or cut corners. Identifying your strengths and potential competitive advantages is a crucial step to your success as an infopreneur.

When you’ve completed this exercise, one thought will stand out in your mind: You Know A Lot

And almost everything you know, someone else wants to know. Or needs to know.

Your life experience teaches meaningful lessons. Your problems and the solutions you adopted to tackle them are valuable to others. Your contacts, connections and network are worth a lot.

But not all of them!

That’s one of the biggest traps new infopreneurs fall into. The hear about how easy it is to sell information they have, skip the difficult research, and jump right in to create an information product – based on what THEY think is important.

The lucky ones find out early that this approach won’t work. The unfortunate many spend weeks, months, even years flogging a dead horse – before giving up in frustration, wondering what people mean by saying infopreneuring is easy.
