Eminem performs in Detroit on Thursday

DETROIT — By the time Eminem got to “Cinderella Man,” near the bottom of his set list on Friday night, the air was filled with so much audible adoration for Slim Shady, Sam Kinison himself could have rose from the grave and screamed in your ear and you wouldn’t hear it. The crowd at Comerica Park was so loud, many people had to text message the person sitting right next to them.

Once again, Eminem was treated like a pharaoh. He was the closer on a two-night stand of concerts headlined by him and Jay-Z.

The stadium seemed a tad bit fuller and two notches louder than Thursday — that’s not to say the love on Thursday from the audience wasn’t overwhelmingly prevalent. Slim Shady is the undisputed reigning king of the Motor City.

Once again, he turned in a very energetic, enthusiastic, inspired performance. This is a man in love with life, it looks like.

With the Alchemist DJing, a band playing and Mr. Porter from D12 as his hypeman, Em’s Friday set was close to Thursday’s. Of the many guest stars who took the stage on the first night, only Drake, who had a show in San Francisco, was absent.

Marshall Mathers rolled out instant classics, such as his opener, “Won’t Back Down,” and the song that made his career explode, “My Name Is.”

On the part of the song where Em raps “Dr. Dre says…” Dre Dre himself rose from under the stage.

Cue pandemonium. Seeing a performance by Dre — who is rarely even seen anywhere, let alone on a stage — is surreal as it gets. During “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” on which Eminem rapped Snoop Dogg’s parts, 50 Cent strolled out onstage with a smile. Curiously, Em and Dre did not perform “Forgot About Dre.”

“I love y’all, Detroit,” Dre said. “I appreciate the love again.”

Em, chimed in, “Detroit, do I love y’all or what?” He then commanded they show Dre how much they loved him.

“Deeeeeetox” chants, rang out. “I’m going to the studio,” the Doc answered with a smile.

“Even in the rehearsals, after we did it, [Dre] was like, ‘Yo, this is crazy.’ I don’t think he’s been on a big stage since the Up in Smoke tour,” Alchemist told MTV News earlier in the day.

Em ended the night with “Not Afraid” and his encore “Lose Yourself.”

Once again, B.o.B opened the show, followed by Jay-Z. All three MCs will perform in New York on September 13 and 14.

The Ultimate Guide to Lincoln Center

After Tim Gunn’s epic outburst last week, there was no way that this episode could possibly measure up. Really, what’s the point in even watching the show anymore? Never before and never again in Project Runway history will there be a Tim-sponsored takedown of such monumental proportions. It’s as if the reality-TV heavens parted, and a clip so juicy, and filled with such hot rage that not even JWOWW smacking Sammi in the face a few networks away, could dilute its unadulterated genius.

But okay, we’re over it. This week’s challenge was one of the dreaded “real model” challenges — you know, the kind where all of the designers stare aghast, as if they’ve just been asked to sew a bikini for an army tanker with one hand tied behind their backs. The specific challenge is to create a fashionable look from an unfashionable bridesmaid’s dress. And out comes the parade of blush, periwinkle, and fuchsia monstrosities, all blinding satin and titanic bows. Casanova, who is but a footnote in this episode, gets to pick his model first, and goes for a “tall, skinny, stylish” girl, because, obviously, he wants to challenge himself. The rest of the designers divvy up their girls, and then it’s off to Mood. April’s model is turning out to be fussy and demanding, but she’s had it up to here and starts mouthing back. (Where do they find these volunteers anyway? We’d like to think that if we were getting a free dress made on Project Runway, we’d wear a garbage bag with glee.) Michael D., meanwhile, is being goaded by the PR producers and other contestants to make an issue out of his girl’s size (what, a 10/12? Please). Being the total gentleman, Michael D. refuses to engage them, saying only “I think she has a wicked-curvaceous body” and leaving it at that.

Of course, the moment we’re all really waiting for is the Gretchen-Tim rematch when the silver fox makes his workroom rounds. Gretchen has already had a heart-to-heart with her mom/BFF and concluded that “life’s more than fashion.” Epiphany realized, she takes a bygones-be-bygones attitude and their workroom encounter is totally devoid of fireworks (but bravo to Lifetime for the melodramatic musical score). Tim, for his part, probably feels a little bad about what happened; certainly Hot Christopher does, defending Gretchen’s honor: “There’s not a malicious bone in her body.” We’re inclined to believe whatever comes out of his beautiful lips, so, fine, truce.

After Tim finishes the critiques, he announces a little surprise: The runway judging is being pushed back a day so that the designers, their designs, and their models can attend a fashion showcase — open to the public! Here, the models stand on little stages like Dutch prostitutes, and the designers are encouraged to really work the crowd. Amazingly, it’s shy, awkward Mondo FTW. (Makes sense — who doesn’t dream about folding the little guy in half and putting him in their back pocket?) Naturally, this is a good opportunity for some catty backstabbing: Rumors start to circulate that Michael C. is shit-talking Ivy — telling all the guests that she’s “the bitch of the show.” (Wait, we thought that was Gretchen?) And yet there is no empirical proof — unlike on, say, Jersey Shore, when Snooks and JWOWW write an “anonymous letter” to Sammi like they’re not being filmed on NATIONAL TELEVISION. Viewers at home never actually see or hear Michael C. sabotaging anyone; quite the contrary, he seems to spend most of his screen time as the show’s de facto whipping boy, sniffling into his blankies and having the nerve to tell only the cameramen what he should’ve been telling all the other contestants: “Bleep you, bleep you, bleep you!” Ivy, on the other hand, calls Michael C.’s construction “horrible.” Such petty drama! But alas, none so sweet as an enraged Tim Gunn. Now onto the runway!

Ne-Yo isn’t off to a good start as he pushes back his fourth studio album “Libra Scale” to October 19th!! His current singles “Beautiful Monster” and “Champagne Life” have yet to make a big impact. Lead single “Beautiful Monster” has fallen off the Hot 100 while “Champagne Life” seems to be moving slowly on the R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart (#11). Well it turns out Ne-Yo isn’t wasting anytime and has already prepared “One in a Million” as the next single. A video has already been shot with director Wayne Isham for the mid-tempo R&B track. The red dress (above top middle) which Blanchett wears is a spendid piece of costume too.
I was delighted to find I really really enjoyed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button when I watched it a few days ago. I had wanted to see this film with well over a year and it really surpassed my expectations, I just wished I had caught it when it initially ran in the cinema. Alack! Cate Blanchett looks really amazing in this though – where Brad Pitt is made to look older, she is made up to appear younger, and vice versa. I quite like Ms. Blanchett anyway – she’s a proper actress, and being a bit of a LOTR obsessive, she will eternally be Galadriel for me. But, as the ballerina Daisy in the Curious Case she is so beautiful – porcelain flame haired elegance. The costume is rather superb too and what’s more, memorable, and as my sister astutely commented David Fincher creates a real ‘world’ in this film and it’s evident right down to the remarkable wardrobe. I was particularly taken with the mustard swing coat with thick black bands at the cuff and collar; delectable folds of brightly coloured material and almost cape like in its swing- y-ness ..shush, I know that’s not a word..
My winter coat inspiration..perhaps, a bit too early to be mentioning that dreaded item though..

Thanks to Forgetmenot for some of these images - excellent post here!
May I also direct you to a short but interesting article on the costume in Benjamin Button, here.

Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood is the sixth hottest bachelor in country music (according to The Boot’s Twitter and Facebook followers). But while he and his Lady A band mates are basking in the glow of their CMA Award nominations, the guitarist is searching for a date for the big night!

The Associated Press reports that Dave asked his mom to go with him via Twitter (because, says Dave, “she loves Twitter for some reason”), but she had to turn him down! “OH WOW!!! YIPPEE!!! What an honor and surprise invitation!!,” the proud mom tweeted, even though she’s unable to attend.

Dave says he’s “bummed” his mom can’t go to the show but adds that he’s now “in the hunt.” As for the type of girl he seeking, not just as a CMA date but in general, Dave tells The Boot, “I would love to find a girl who loves to travel as much as we do. Someone who likes the ups and downs of a music career. I’m still looking for the right one!”

CANADIAN EXPLOSION: TEASERS WE CAN’T WAIT FOR (MARCUS VOYCE FEAT HARVEY STRIPES) “DIARY GIRL”

A lawyer for Taylor Lautner says the “Twilight” star has settled a lawsuit with an RV dealership he claims didn’t deliver a $300,000 coach in time for a movie shoot. Attorney Robert Barta said Friday that McMahon RV of Irvine, Calif. will pay $40,000 to Lautner, who will donate it to Lollipop Theater Network, a children’s charity.

The 18-year-old Lautner sued the dealership Monday, saying it missed a June deadline to deliver the 2006 Affinity Country Coach for use on the set of the movie “Abduction.”Dealership owner Brent McMahon had offered to compete in a push-up contest to solve the dispute.A phone message seeking comment on the settlement was not immediately returned.Lautner will reprise his role as Jacob Black in the two-part “Twilight” finale.

Good for you Taylor. SMH…18 year old makes $10 mill per movie=taking advantage.
