The first thing to be done is to put the gear in the neutral so that it is safe till the work is completed. Also use the car’s parking brake to put it in stationary position. Then, the engine is turned off and the battery is disconnected. This can be done by popping up the hood, and removing the negative end of the car’s battery. The gear is kept neutral so that the console can be removed with no problems.
Get into your car. Make sure your car’s gear system is in neutral position. The engine is turned off and hand brake is applied. Parking brake is the other name of the hand brake. The negative terminal of the car’s battery is disconnected. The gear shifting knob is twisted counter clock wise direction and the knob is removed carefully. The center console is smashed and the cup holder is grabbed and removed carefully.
Next you need to access the radio side-mounting bolt. For gaining this access you need to remove the glove box. Now squeeze the sides of the glove box together so that it drops down. This will reveal the 10 mm bolt on the left side of the glove compartment. Remove this bolt with the help of a socket wrench.
You will find that the radio and the climate control are mounted on the same assembly. Loosen the entire assembly so that the whole setup can be removed. The air vent covers are included in the panel. Remove this cover. Turn the cover upside down. There will be twelve screws located on the cover. These screws are responsible for mounting the climate and the radio controls. Remove all the 12 screws with the help of a screw driver. Once all the screws are removed, the radio can be removed from the car.
After the radio is removed, do the above steps in the reverse order to assemble the parts. The dash is placed and all the screws are screwed back. The gear is then shifter in to the park mode. The battery of car is again reconnected. The negative wire is again placed on the battery and tightened.
